How to Set Margins and Header Footer Text for Print

Last Updated: Nov 05, 2012 09:27PM PST
When you print an article using PrintFriendly, your browser and printer settings decide the margins and what should be in the header and footer. By default, most browsers tell the printer to include the URL and page number on the header or footer of the page. However, if your browser is not showing this or if you'd prefer to turn this off, you can follow the tutorial here.

Since every browser has different configuration and settings, we'll divide the article by browsers.

For Internet Explorer

This applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9.

On Internet Explorer, press Alt from the keyboard and click File -> Page Setup.

You will now see the Page Setup option. You can choose the Header, Footer and Margin settings from here. Once done, simply click OK to save the settings.

For Firefox

First, click the Firefox icon on top left and click Print -> Page Setup.

The Page Setup box will appear. Click on the tab "Margins & Header/Footer". From there, you can set what the header and footer will be. You can also set what the margins of the printed paper will be.

Click OK to save your settings.

For Opera

It's almost same as Firefox. On top left corner of your browser, click File and then click Print Options. An option box will appear from where you can set the margins or enable/disable Header/Footer from the printed sheet.
